Matthew Stafford walked out of the Detroit Lions' training facility three minutes before the start of practice today, a white baseball cap turned backward on his head and no sign of the leg injury that forced the quarterback out of last week's loss to the Tennessee Titans in his gait.
Stafford did not practice, but it's too early to determine his availability for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Shaun Hill took first-team reps at quarterback in Stafford's absence, and Kellen Moore worked with the second team.
Stafford missed large chunks of his first two NFL seasons with shoulder and knee injuries, but he played last year through a broken finger and bad ankle sprain.
He aggravated a leg injury he dealt with during practice last week in the fourth quarter of the Titans game and sat out the Lions' final two series of regulation and overtime.
On Monday, Stafford said his leg was "sore," but he still could play Sunday in what's almost a must-win game for a Lions team off to a surprising 1-2 start. The Lions have a bye next week, giving him extra time to heal.
