Dec 14 update; NFL, NBA, MLB

NFL

Brandon Coutu, K, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars signed kicker Brandon Coutu to the practice squad Monday as insurance and waived offensive lineman George Bussey and cornerback Talmadge Jackson. If Scobee can't play Thursday at Atlanta, Coutu would be promoted to replace him.  From NFL News

A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Starting with the 2011 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, my vote goes to Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green. Drafted fourth overall in this year's NFL Draft, Green has lived up to and even surpassed expectations.  More here

Tim Jennings, CB, Chicago Bears
Tim Tebow this. Tim Tebow that. Whatever. Bears cornerback Tim Jennings doesn’t buy the hype.  One day after the Denver Broncos and the quarterback who has made a name for himself with his on-field displays of religious devotion rallied furiously to beat the Bears 13-10 in overtime, Jennings doubted Tebow’s prowess.
“He’s a competitor,” Jennings said. “I’m not sold on him as a top QB. He has his (team) to support him and help him win the game.  More here

NBA

Sundiata Gaines, G. New Jersey Nets
Nets head coach Avery Johnson was asked by NJ.com if he thinks his team is ready for a preseason game:  “You know, I think we’re going to be as ready as we can be. It’s not the ideal situation, but … our guys are in pretty good shape. I don’t know if we’re going to know exactly what we’re doing, but then, fortunately for us, we have Brook (Lopez) and Deron (Williams) and (Johan) Petro and (Jordan) Farmar and (Sundiata) Gaines and Damion James – guys that, if we had to put all of those guys out on the floor, they would have an idea of what we’re doing, because they have some continuity from last year.”  Read more

MLB

Gordon Beckham, Infield, Chicago White Sox
By now you've probably heard Gordon Beckham's name bandied about in trade rumors pertaining to the White Sox rebuilding effort.
It's notable because it's not everyday you hear "Trade the 25 year-old cost-controlled 2nd basemen!" during a rebuilding effort, and because it wasn't that long ago that Beckham was capable of acting as the centerpiece of a blockbuster.  Not only that, but people would complain about it.  More here

Jeff Keppinger, Infield, San Francisco Giants
Giants re-sign Fontenot, let Keppinger leave

Go Dawgs!
