Matthew Stafford gets $1 million bonus for passing yards

Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions

According to Brian McIntyre of Mac’s Football Blog and FootballOutsiders.com, quarterback Matthew Stafford has a $1 million escalator in his rookie contract if he ranks in the top five in either passing yards, passing touchdowns or passer rating. Stafford finished third in passing yards and touchdowns, and fifth in passer rating this season.
Stafford already was set to have a base salary of $10.5 million next year with a cap number of more than $16 million. Both of those numbers will increase by $1 million.
