Nets Part Ways With Sundiata Gaines

As the Brooklyn Nets make the move up from New Jersey, free-agent point guard Sundiata Gaines won’t be making the move with the team, Nets GM Billy King announced (via Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News). The Nets will instead search for a veteran backup point guard.

Forgot this nugget: Billy King said Sundiata Gaines will not be returning to the Nets

The Nets held a $1 million dollar qualifying offer for Gaines, but it was believed the team choose not to tender the contract. Gaines is currently an unrestricted free-agent.
The journeyman point guard played well enough in 2010-11 for the Nets to earn himself a non-guaranteed contract for the season after. He averaged 5.1 points, 2.2 assists, 1.9 rebounds on just 38% shooting from the floor last season.
