Brandon Coutu signed to compete at kicker for Seahawks

Posted by Danny O'Neil
The Seahawks signed Brandon Coutu to compete at kicker. He doubles the number of kickers on Seattle's roster as the team previously had Wes Byrum, an undrafted rookie of free agent.
Seattle has a vacancy at kicker after Olindo Mare left for Carolina as a free agent.
Coutu was on the Seahawks roster in 2008, but never appeared in a game. A rookie, he made all seven field-goal attempts in exhibition games, and while Mare earned the starting kicking job, the Seahawks didn't want to risk another team claiming Coutu by moving him to the practice squad.
Coutu remained on the 53-man roster the entire season, but was released on final roster cuts the following year.
