Dec 17 update; NFL, NBA pre-season game results

NFL

Chris Clemons, DE, Seattle Seahawks
Defensive leader: Defensive end Chris Clemons has racked up 20 sacks in 29 games for the Seahawks. Clemons is fifth among defensive ends, sixth in the NFC, and ninth in the NFL in sacks since the start of last season. Interestingly, Clemons ranks among five 2011 Pro Bowlers (DeMarcus Ware, Jason Babin, Terrell Suggs, Cameron Wake and Clay Matthews) in sacks since 2010.  From ESPN

Darryl Gamble, LB, San Diego Chargers
Bainbridge High School Coach Kelvin Cochran has presented Walmart gift cards to ten students from each of the elementary school on behalf of the Bainbridge Bearcat NFL Dream Team.
The organization is supported by former Bearcats and present NFL players James Butler, Ray Dominguez, Malcom Shephard and Darryl Gamble.  The men wanted to give back to their community.  From BainbridgeGa.com

Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions
Stafford has 3,754 Pass yards this season and needs 246 yards to post the fourth 4,000-yard season in Lions history. The others are by Scott Mitchell (1995) and Jon Kitna (2006, 2007).
Stafford's effectiveness on third down has been a key in both wins and losses for the Lions recently.
In the Lions last nine games, Stafford is 25-for-35 with five touchdowns in third-down situations in wins, 23-for-58 with one touchdown in the five defeats.
Stafford ranks as the NFL's second-most prolific shotgun passer, trailing only Brady in passing yards out of that formation. The Raiders defense has held opposing passers to the seventh-lowest NFL passer rating in the NFL. Opponents have completed 56 percent of their throws in shotgun against them, five percentage points below the NFL average.   From ESPN

Ben Watson, TE, Cleveland Browns
Browns TE Ben Watson (injured reserve, concussion) says he will return for a ninth NFL season in 2012.  "I'm looking forward to coming back and continuing to play," were Watson's words after his third concussion of the season sent him to injured reserve Friday. Watson said he would only retire if advised to do so by his doctors, and that he'd suffered just one concussion in the NFL before 2011. Coming off a career year in 2010, Watson tallied 37 catches for 410 yards in 13 games. Dec. 17 - 9:47 am et Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer

NBA

Sundiata Gaines, G. New Jersey Nets
Played 9:29 and was 1-3 from the field.  Finished with 1 rebound and 2 points in the pre-season game against the New York Knicks today.

Damien Wilkins, G, Detroit Pistons
Started and played 21:50 in the 91-87 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Was 1-2, with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 points.

Damien Wilkins makes surprise start for Pistons
Detroit was nowhere near the top of his list for Pistons forward Damien Wilkins when he was looking for his next NBA stop.
Charlotte, Atlanta and Milwaukee were well ahead of Detroit, but Pistons vice president of basketball operations Scott Perry had him in mind when the Pistons needed another wing defender to come to training camp.
A week later, the nine-year veteran found himself starting the first preseason game at small forward for the Pistons.  From Detroit News
